Touring and lodge park situated inside an old Napoleonic Fort (2nd world war gun emplacements still in place) This site has changed a lot since we visited. There used to be a Rally field but that has been covered in Lodges.
The site is wooded in places and has a nice natural feel even though there has been a lot of work done to make the site level in places
Has on site a shop laundrette, bar, takeaway, restaurant (quite small) It was cheaper to go on the ferry to Plymouth and shop in a supermarket there.
Heated (?) outdoor swimming pool. It was cold when we were there
Electric hook ups are 16amp.
Shower and toilet blocks (kept very clean twice a day) tokens for shower from reception.
Dishwashing and food prep areas
dog exercise areas -
Personally I found the one way system on camp a little too narrow especially with the van on the back (widest roads are on the static areas) and as I went towards the end of season the shop only opened for a short while in the evening.
I found the Bar/takeaway areas dingy and had to complain about the beer and the glasses it was served in.
The sites adverts/website says beach just minutes away
doesn't add down cliff path which takes 20 minutes plus to walk back up and is very unsuitable for disabled.
If you can't manage it there is a nice café at the top of the cliff with some nice sea views
(well the cliff is 200 feet high)
Fishing,
When you've struggled down the cliff you find a very welcome beach café and some nice looking areas with lots of features. There is also what looks at first glance to be featureless sand, it’s not it’s full of worm cockle razors etc. Don't forget to take you BIG hooks as there are plenty of big conger down here, I had a size 4/0 hardened hook straightened as if it were a paper clip, really didn’t get much chance either to fight it was as if I had hooked the Titanic a big solid and mean headbanger.
Could be a much better site. Fishing though !!!!!!!!
